CCBN CLUB of the YEAR 2006/7

President's Introduction

I have been asked to write a few words on the club as the current Club President. I will keep this as brief as possible the best way of judging the club is to give us a try. I believe that we are probably the best kept secret in Berkshire with the best facilities available in a family environment. We are proud that we are a family orientated club which we feel was very much in the mind of our founding members in 1941. The Club has managed to progress through the past 70 years and we are in a very stable and secure state with a broad spectrum of facilities for the club members. We have a strong management team that are proactive to the clubs needs throughout the year. During the summer season we are fortunate to have a team of volunteer wardens who work tirelessly to ensure the facilities are in a good clean working condition for our members and guests. In the melee of the summer life this role within the club may get overlooked by members and guest but without the warden's dedication and hard work the club would struggle to run smoothly. The winter period sees a slight reduction in the number of members visiting the club. We do hold social functions throughout the winter and encourage the use of the Steam and Sauna facilities. Sadly we are unable to use the camping facilities after 31st October until 1st April or Easter depending on which comes first. At the time of writing this article the club has just purchased a six person hot tub, we are going through a test period for the operation of the hot tub but we are confident it will be up and running by the start of May.

We have over the past 6 years been able to improve the facilities of the club we have been able to build a purpose designed Sauna and Steam room in a log cabin adjacent to the main pool area, these are available for use 365 day of the year there is an additional cost to use these to members and guest this cost helps to offset the running cost.

So as per my opening few lines the best way to see the club and feel the atmosphere is to give us a try the majority of those who visit join the club on their first visit. So give as a call and meet our membership team and allow them to introduce you to Heritage I hope it will then become part of your life style and allow you to enjoy the Heritage Family.

All the Best

Steve

Management Committee

Heritage is owned and run by it's members, but obviously it would be a bit of a crowd to get all of the members into a room to make decisions! In line with many other organisations we have an elected management committee.

The management committee are volunteers and are members of the club, just like everyone else. The members of the committee have decided to offer the club some (and in many cases a a lot) of their time and expertise to help the running of the club. They are then supported by the member volunteers who dedicate their time to maintaining and running the club, such as our Summer Wardens etc.

Being on the management committee is an elected role, with elections being held at the AGM in October. Once elected the member can remain in post for up to two years. The committee comprises of a huge range of expertise, knowledge and ages. From organising social events, to dealing with the money, camping and clerical roles the experience and time commitments vary hugely.

The committee usually meet once and month to discuss agenda items. These meeting allow the key decisions for the club and spending to be taken. Minutes for the meetings are then sent out to members via the HeriNews email system.
